Admar Mutt in Udupi

Admar Mutt is situated in South West Udupi. It has got its name because its main branch is in a village called Admar. Lord Kaliyamardana Krishna is worshiped in the temple. The idol was donated by Acharya Madhya. The idol has four hands, standing with support of one leg and the other one lifted in a dancing position.  The two hands are covered and well decorated with a Conch in one and a Chakra in the other. The third hand is also in a dancing pose and the fourth one is holding the tail of a serpent.

The Swamiji of mutt is Sri Vibhudhesha Teertha. He came into power in 1945 AD (at the tender age of 18) and then designated Sri Vishvapriya Teertha as his disciple and successor at the age of 15 in 1972. It is an old and renowned mutt. People at large number gather here to offer their prayers and to catch a glimpse of lord Krishna. The ancient and unique pattern of idol is also a reason for attracting tourists. Prayers are done in a traditional way. The priests of temple try hard to maintain the culture of the temple and therefore train their disciple from time to time regarding the rituals. Huge amounts of money are collected at the temple in the form of donations from devotees.

Admar mutt has its own charity hospitals and temples. The mutt also has an old age home where elders of the society are offered accommodation along with great care and respect.

Inside the mutt one can see a big silver chariot and a gold cradle. The dining hall of the mutt has been reconstructed and now has a capacity to have 2000 people at a time. There are many other facilities at the mutt which contributed it in being one of the most renowned mutts. The main contribution of the mutt is building of the over bridge in Madhaya Sarovara'. The mutt also actively contributes in many other projects for the welfare of society.

Now, if you are planning to go there then you must know about the ‘Golden Mantapa’ which is now acquired by Sri Admar mutt. It is really amazing and is made up from 20 kgs of gold. It was constructed by keeping Sri Kaliyamardhana Chaturbhuja Krishna in mind. The credit of beautiful piece goes to Gujjadi Swarna Jewelers Pvt. Ltd.
