Visit Hebri to experience the best of the best river rafting experience in India. Hebri is located at the foothill of the Western Ghats on Udupi - Agumbe Road. It is just beneath the Agumbe where the river Sita originates and cascades its course of over 70 kms creating one of the top bio diverse rain forests in the world then meeting the Arabian Sea.

Best time to visit: From June to October. Although river rafting is open throughout the year but it is good to see Sita Nadi swell in monsoon. It is during this time of year when one can experience the thrilling and adrenal rushing experience of white water rafting.

White water rafting is monsoon water rafting which is neat and white. Sita Nadi offers a good platform for first timers and non swimmers. River rafting can be a good family weekend activity or corporate team building activity after all it’s about team effort.
 
Where is it located:
It is located in Karkala Taluk of Udupi district which is around 65 kilometers in distance.

River rafting at Sitanadi Nisarga Dhama camp starts at two different points:
  • Nisarga Dhama to Belinje Bridge (14 kms)
  • Nisarga Dhama to Jomlu Tirtha (22 kms).

It can take between 6 to 8 hours depending upon the stretch of the chosen water course. The most important part of rafting is security and safety. There are many experienced & certified organizers available to teach instructions on rafting and they also provide the participants with safety and other equipment (such as life jackets and helmets) along with a guide on each rafting boat. Just be careful of leeches which can feast on rafters anytime. Sitanadi nature camp is located within the Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary.

One can easily enjoy the awe-inspiring nature, the awesome greenery and radiant luster of water while staying at the Sita Nadi nature camp. The camp provides accommodation facility in the form of farmhouse, home stay or heritage stay at economical rates. The Someshwara Sanctuary is host to semi-evergreen and evergreen forests.

The sanctuary includes of two unconnected parts, the smaller part being situated to the Southwest of the major part. The Kudremukh National Park lies to the Southeast of this sanctuary. One can also opt for trekking to nearby locations like the waterfalls at Kudlu Tirtha, Onke Abbi Falls and Jogigundi.

Hebri is known to be a major trade centre of Udupi district. It camps many agro-based industries such as cashew processing, rice mills, oil mills, cattle feed manufacturing and others. The forest department is promoting to develop Hebri as good adventurous sports spot as no other river offers such an incredible platform for river rafting and forest trekking. Situated right beneath the Augumbe Ghats the place receiving the second highest rains in India is sure a place for adventure loving people.
